Recently, according to the Awards Committee of Metallurgical Science and Technology Awards of the Chinese Society for Metals, the project “Development and application of the key technology of green and efficient electroslag remelting of high-quality special steel”, which was jointly participated by Xingtai Steel and Northeastern University in China, passed the public period and expert defense successfully, and won the first prize of China Metallurgical Science and Technology Award.
China Metallurgical Science and Technology Awards are jointly sponsored by China Iron and Steel Industry Association and The Chinese Society for Metals. A total of 86 achievements won the 2018 China Metallurgical Science and Technology Awards, including 1 special prize, 15 first prizes, 23 second prizes and 47 third prizes.
During the research and development of continuous drawing-ingot-type electroslag remelting technology in Northeastern University, Xingtai Steel participated in the whole process and engaged in exploring the electroslag remelting technology which can meet the demands of high-end products. A 13t Double-stage series semi-continuous drawing-ingot-type electro-slag furnace was used to test, improve and apply this technology. This electro-slag furnace is the bifilar drawing-ingot-type electro-slag furnace which can draw the longest ingot. The section size of electro-slag ingot is 280mm×325mm、Ø600mm、Ø800mm, and the longest ingot the furnace draws can reach 6500mm. The application of this technology improves the production efficiency and effectively saves the cost, which makes a contribution to energy conservation and environmental protection.
By using this technology, Xingtai Steel has developed a series of high-quality products such as bearing steel, roller steel, die steel, stainless steel, nickel-base alloy. Among these, H13 series hot work die Steel have reached the standard of high-grade fine steel set by North American Die Casting Association and some customers have used it to replace the same imported products. These products are widely applied in domestic fields of automotive, railway, metallurgical machinery, aerospace and national defense equipment, which brings out remarkable social and economic benefits.
