On March 31st, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Fusion Reduction Ironmaking Engineering of the Xingtai Steel relocation project took place at the Wei County project site. Cui Yaopeng, the Secretary of the County Party Committee, attended and delivered a speech, while Gao Kaiying, the Deputy Secretary of the County Party Committee and County Mayor, presided over the ceremony. Tan Xingtaishan, General Manager of Shanghai Company of the fifth MCC Group, and Peng Shidan, General Manager of Xingtai Steel, each gave their respective addresses.

Xingtai Steel relocation project is a major undertaking that has garnered attention from across the province and the city, representing the foundation and confidence for Wei County to build a special steel industry cluster worth 30 billion yuan and to accelerate high-quality development. In recent years, Wei County has always adhered to the determination and responsibility of creating a first-class business environment to serve Xingtai Steel, sparing no effort and striving to the utmost. The Plant Front Area, steelmaking, and rolling projects have started one after another, with each process steadily advancing and various elements progressively falling into place. Particularly noteworthy is that the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government have specifically established a coordination and supervision group, which is fully dedicated to being stationed on the front lines in Wei County, providing assistance and guidance. This fully reflects the high importance and earnest expectations the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government place on Xingtai Steel and Wei County. Ironmaking is a key link in controlling production costs and improving energy efficiency, and fusion reduction technology is a leading edge technology in the field of metallurgy worldwide. The commencement of this engineering project will greatly propel the Xingtai Steel project from 'on paper' to 'on the ground', turning it from a dream into reality.

It is reported that the Fusion Reduction Ironmaking Engineering covers an area of about 40 hectares, with a planned investment of 3.3 billion yuan, and includes the design for three 550,000-ton fusion reduction furnaces along with their supporting raw material and lime kiln systems. The project has adopted a non-blast furnace process flow that eliminates traditional sintering, coking, and pelletizing steps, offering significant environmental protection, energy saving, and emission reduction benefits. It is expected to produce 1.65 million tons of molten iron annually and directly create approximately 500 job positions.
